Our Story

At Carnicería Sonora, we believe every great business begins with a story, and ours is rooted in family, tradition, and the desire to honor a legacy. Since 1994, we have proudly served the Arizona Valley, bringing the rich flavors and traditions of Sonora, México, to our community. Our journey begins with our grandfather, the heart and soul of our inspiration. Tata opened his first carnicería in Sonora, México, where he earned a reputation for quality meats, exceptional service, and dedication to his community. His passion for his craft and his dream of building something meaningful have always been the foundation of our family’s values. Though Tata is no longer with us, his legacy lives on in every aspect of Carnicería Sonora.

In 1994, we opened the doors to our first carnicería in Tempe, Arizona, determined to continue Tata’s legacy and bring the same level of quality and care to the community he inspired us to serve. Tata was our biggest supporter in those early days, cheering us on as we worked tirelessly to build the business from the ground up. Today, we are proud to say that Carnicería Sonora has grown to four locations—Tempe, Phoenix, Peoria, and Maricopa. Each store represents our family’s dedication to offering only the freshest and highest-quality products.

Our slogan, "Pura Calidad," isn’t just a saying - it’s a promise. From our carefully sourced meats to our freshly prepared products, we strive to provide nothing but the best for our customers. Many of our recipes have been lovingly passed down through generations, originating from our family’s roots in Sonora. These flavors carry the essence of our heritage and the pride we feel in sharing them with our community.

As a family-run business, every member plays a role in ensuring that Carnicería Sonora continues to uphold Tata’s legacy. We work hard, not just for the business, but for the customers who have become part of our extended family over the past 30 years. We are deeply grateful to the Arizona Valley for welcoming us and allowing us to serve you.
